Under the leadership of Commissioner Brian James Egen, the Michigan Historical Commission is seeking input in order to compile the most complete report possible on the Civil War Sesquicentennial.
The Michigan Civil War Sesquicentennial After-Action form will be distributed as widely as possible to all groups, organizations, institutions, authors, etc. that participated in Michigan’s 150th Anniversary events. These individual “after-action reports” will be rolled up into a single report that will document all expressions of Michigan’s Civil War history that occurred between 2011 and 2016.
The final report will be submitted to the State Archives and made available in electronic form through websites and other social media means.
Although very unlikely to capture all events and activities, the hope is to document as much as possible, as our predecessors did during the Civil War Centennial, for future generations. The Commission, Michigan Historical Center, the Michigan CWS partners, agencies and our personal/professional networks are to aid in distributing the final form and information with encouragement to participate.
