J.H. Kidd, in his book "Personal Recollections of a Cavalryman," speaks about Rummel's farm on page 157. He has very high regard for the cavalry charge that happened there, attributing the success of Gettysburg to it. Although he hasn't mentioned the painting by this point in the book, he certainly holds Gray in high regard too.
