A week ago it was a privilege to attend a ceremony at Historic Fort Wayne in salute to the service of the 102nd U.S.C.T., a/k/a the 1st Michigan Colored Infantry. Part of the event involved a tribute to the original soldiers, part a salute to the living historians who are keeping the story alive today and who have supported restoration of the regimental flag at The Henry Ford with their monetary donations.
