The National Trust for Historic Preservation is running their "This Place Matters" community campaign with possibility for grants to aid in preservation/restoration of precious heritage sites to those getting the most votes. One site suggested is the headquarters building at Historic Fort Wayne in Detroit: NTHP. The entire site on the bank of the Detroit River is chock-full of history, including a heavy Civil War link.
